Fines accrue at $0.10 a day per item, with a $10.00 maximum per item. Sundays are always fine free for returned materials.

Faxes: $1.00 for the first page, $0.50 for each additional page, no charge for the cover sheet.

All computer users must sign in. Children under 12 cannot use the Internet unless they are with a parent or have a permission slip on file. Complete policies are posted in the computer rooms.
Winter Weather Policy:
When the Jefferson County Board of Education cancels school due to inclement weather, the library will also be closed for the day.
Unaccompanied Minors Policy:
Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult (someone 18 years or older).
The South Jefferson Public Library welcomes donations of books, audiovisual materials, and other items as well as monetary donations. These gifts help improve the library’s resources.
The library reserves the right to accept, decline, discard, or sell any donations.
All materials donated will be evaluated by the staff to determine which materials to add to the collection. Donations must be outright and unconditional.
- Adult and children’s fiction books
- Adult and children’s non-fiction books, if information up to date.
- Compact discs and DVDs as long as they are in their original packaging
- Text Books of any kind
- Reader’s Digest condensed books
- National Geographic magazines
- Any item that is outdated, condensed, or damaged in any way.
Items not added will be sold at the library’s annual book sale to acquire funds to purchase new items, transferred to other institutions, discarded or recycled.
The library and/or its staff are not permitted to place a value on donations for tax purposes. A receipt will be given stating how many items donated.
Monetary contributions to the library are greatly appreciated and welcomed. Donors can earmark their contribution for specific materials, supplies, equipment, or furnishings according to the library’s needs.
The library director will refer decisions on all equipment, art, benches, or other unusual donations to the Board of Trustees for consideration. Any items donated, which may require maintenance through the years, will be the responsibility of the donor to maintain.
